Having new tyres fitted and setting off on them for the first time can be a bit daunting especially if the tyres are of a type you haven't tried before. Listening to all of the stories from friends about "scrubbing in times", watching racers slide off on their outlap and the commentators wax lyrical about new tyres and their "break in period", it's enough to put some people off.
However once you've owned a bike for a few years and had a few sets of tyres it becomes second nature.
It was a nice day for an explore and I had an excuse as I was going down to Crevillent for the Orange Days event at Moto Sport Carreras. I signed up for the event whilst visiting the Sobre2Ruedas event in Alicante earlier in the year and had booked a test on the new 790 Duke and the Super Adventure 1290 S.
Not many takers for this trip, only the three of us, but we had a great time anyway. I took the usual route down the Calpe Bends (N332) to the BP petrol station at the top of the town to meet up with David and Stu. David, I have known for years but Stu replied to my post on the Bikers España Facebook Group and tagged along.
Starting off from home early to meet members of our Facebook group the weather looked good but was quite cold again, its been changeable this year. Three of us met at Restaurante Tormos in the small village of Tormos inland of Denia, Costa Blanca.
What a day, first a ride down to Alicante for the Sobre2Ruedas show then on to the Moto Madness Rally in Pilar De La Horadada, to meet up with a couple of our Facebook group members, before the return journey home via the KTM dealer, Moto Sport Carreres, in Crevillent to check where they are in readiness for the Orange Days event in May.
