I can't quite believe it has taken me so long to get out on the bike this year, its the 13th of January, I must try harder. It's not for the want of trying though, but family and work often get in the way, thankfully as I don't live in the UK anymore, (17 years in Spain) the weather generally has little to do with it.
Today's ride started off as an early morning blast for some breakfast but after a bit of procrastination on my part and a few small jobs that needed doing first, it turned into a lunchtime jaunt around the mountains.
It was a fairly usual and well-known route from Senija, down the N332 to Altea le Vieja, through Callosa d'en Seria to Tarbena, over Col de Rates and back through the Jalon Valley to Senija. Just me and my bike with no distractions. There were a few damp corners under overhanging trees to watch for and a few Sunday afternoon motorists to avoid but nothing out of the ordinary I didn't even stop for a coffee as we had a table booked for a late lunch.
It was good to get out though, and hopefully the start of another great biking year on the Costa Blanca.
