Benidorm to Guadalest

Coming out of Benidorm on the CV-70 follow signs for La Nucia, this part of the journey is a few KM's of 70kmph dual carriageway punctuated by 5 or 6 roundabouts, a great warm-up for the senses before the real fun begins.

Just before La Nucia village, take the left at the roundabout heading towards Guadalest, you are now on a single carriageway road with good surface 3 or 4 more roundabouts getting progressively further apart and then you are free to enjoy one of the best roads in the area.  The road sweeps it's way higher and higher into the mountains, with mostly good surface and camber, a few blind apexes and two 180 degree corners to contend with but great fun.

Distance: 15.42 mile(s), 24.82 km(s)

Watch for: Painted pedestrian crossings into and out of most roundabouts, painted red stripes down the side of the road, dawdling tourists and occasional Guardia Civil.

Guadalest to Callosa d'en Sarria

Coming out of Guadalest towards Callosa d'en Sarria on the CV-755 the road drops away and follows the curves of the valley wall slowly winding its way down towards the coast.  Occasionally very twisty with blind bends a slow speed is in order for the first timer, eventually, you drop down to the valley floor to cross the river before continuing down towards Callosa.

Just after the bridge, there is a small motorcycle museum on the right which is worth a visit, find more information HERE.

Distance: 8.08 mile(s), 13 km(s)

Watch for: Damp patches from overhanging trees, roadside drainage ditches and tourist buses.

Callosa d'en Sarria to Altea La Vieja

At the roundabout in Callosa take the second exit (CV-755).  The road continues to drop steadily down towards Altea and the coast, it is more open now with fast sweeping bends and a few tighter ones to catch out the unwary.  Passing through a farming area with fruit trees lining the roadside and great views of the coastline ahead, a perfect wind down after the tougher mountain section.

Total Distance: 9.39 mile(s), 15.11 km(s)

Watch for: Slippery surface during fruit season, farm machinery and tourist on Sundays.

Just beyond Altea La Vieja the CV-755 joins the N-332 coast road and you can head left to Calpe and the Calpe to Benissa Bends or right back to Benidorm for a well-earned rest.
