Hypermotard 796

For 2010 the Ducati Hypermotard family will have a new member in the shape of the Hypermotard 796.
This new model has the same overall appearance as it's larger sibling but on closer inspection is different in a number of key areas.

The first of which is the completely new Ducati 796 engine, which conforms to Euro 3 regulations, produces 81hp (59.6kW) of power and 55.7lb-ft (7.7kgm) of torque which should prove to be enough for such a light weight machine.  This new engine is also fitted with an APTC "wet" clutch rather than the more traditional Ducati dry clutch arrangement.  This new system will give a lighter feel at the lever to aid the daily commute and has a slipper action for more spirited riding.

The 796 weighs in at just 167kg with a lower seat height of 825mm or 32.5inch which together with the smoother power delivery of the new engine may appeal more to newer riders and those wanting the aggresive looks of the original but were put off by the performance and seat hieght.

The new 796 comes in a range of colours with Matte black or white being options as well as a copy of the 1100 with bright red paintwork.

At this point prices are to be confirmed for Spain however the bike is expected to be £6995 in the UK for the Matte colours and £7195 for the traditional red version.
