As previously reported by Bikers España in February 2010 bike sales have been greatly effected by the general economic downturn. This trend was slowed in part during 2010 by the implementation and promotion of the Spanish Motorcycle Scrappage Scheme. However now the scheme has closed sales are falling once again.
The end of the scrappage scheme and the current difficulty in obtaining credit have been blamed for the reduction. During the month of January 2011 the sale of two wheelers fell by nearly 20% compared to the same period the previous year. A total of 8398 new machines were registered of these only 1,773 were motorcycles and the rest scooters. If you like the article please rate it at the top of the page. Thanks.
